You Won't Believe Which Budget Marmalade Topped the Taste Test!

In a delightful twist of events, a budget marmalade has triumphed over major brands such as Asda, Tesco, and M&S to be crowned shoppers' favorite spread. The Morrisons thick cut Seville Orange marmalade emerged victorious in a recent Which? taste test, impressing a panel of testers with its exceptional quality and affordability.

The Taste Test Results

The tasting panel evaluated 11 different marmalades, assessing factors such as flavor, aroma, appearance, and texture. Morrisons' marmalade scored a remarkable 75% customer satisfaction rating, earning it the prestigious Best Buy status. Testers were particularly taken with the product's abundant peel and perfectly balanced bitterness, demonstrating that quality does not have to come at a premium price.

The Budget-Friendly Choice

At just £1.80 for a 340g jar, or approximately 53p per 100g, Morrisons' own-brand marmalade is a staggering 75% less expensive than many competing brands including Tiptree and Frank Cooper's. This combination of quality and affordability makes it a standout option for consumers looking to enjoy a delightful breakfast without breaking the bank.

Competition Highlights

Following closely behind was Duchy's Organic Seville Orange thick cut marmalade, which also received a commendable 73% rating. Meanwhile, Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Bitter Seville orange marmalade matched Morrisons' pricing and was praised for its qualities, making it another great option for consumers. Other brands such as La Vieja Fabrica and Asda also showcased their products, but none could rival the overall satisfaction that Morrisons provided.

A Sweet Start to Your Day

This latest taste test serves as a reminder of the vigorous competition between supermarket brands and big names in the food industry. It's encouraging to see that consumers have the option of high-quality products at more accessible prices, offering a delightful choice for those who cherish the simple pleasure of marmalade on toast. As Natalie Hitchins, head of home products and services at Which?, noted, starting the day with marmalade is a beloved ritual for many, making such findings particularly relevant for breakfast lovers across the UK.
