Unlock Your Potential: Join Exciting Workshops and Celebrate Community Leaders

This spring, the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is offering a range of workshops designed to inspire and empower students, faculty, and staff. Led by Krystle Ellis, a distinguished RIT alumna and executive director of the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley, these sessions promise to be both enriching and transformative. Ellis, known for her expertise in fostering cultural understanding, invites participants to engage in meaningful dialogues.

Workshop Highlights

Among the offerings, the workshop titled "Loving Conflict" scheduled for February 24th encourages participants to approach conflict with curiosity and an open mind. The subsequent workshop, "So What’s Next for Me?" on March 24th, will assist individuals in translating their visions into actionable plans. Both workshops aim to cultivate a supportive environment where attendees can explore personal and professional growth.

Celebrating Community Leadership

In a remarkable acknowledgment of community leadership, Taj Smith, the executive director for Community and Education at RIT, will be honored at Xavier University later this month for his significant contributions to the Black campus community. This accolade reflects a commitment to diversity and inclusion, as Smith has played an integral role in promoting these values in education.

Moreover, as part of his continuous dedication to community engagement, Smith will serve a two-year term on RIT's new University Advisory Committee on Gender Related Experience (UACGRE) and will participate as a community member with the Pittsford School District's Planning Team. These roles underline the importance of community involvement and advocacy in education.

Farewell and Best Wishes

As the institute continues to celebrate its dedicated personnel, we extend our best wishes to Alexandria Collins, who is transitioning from her role as Assistant Director for Engagement and Student Success to a new position as a school counselor with the Greece Central School District. Over her five years at RIT, Collins has set a remarkable example of support and engagement for students, fostering an environment of success and growth.

The upcoming workshops and recognition of community leaders at RIT highlight a vibrant culture of empowerment and success, inspiring the next generation to seize opportunities for personal and communal advancement.
