Unleash Your Inner Dancer: Join the Silent Disco Hike Movement!
This June, the Sunnywood Project is bringing back its popular silent disco hikes to Holcombe Moor, blending a unique hiking experience with music and community spirit. Designed to promote outdoor activity and socialization, these events offer a refreshing alternative to traditional nightlife.
A New Way to Experience Nature
The silent disco hikes invite participants to dance and sing while soaking in the beauty of the outdoors. With headsets provided, hikers can choose from three distinct music channels, ensuring there's something for everyone—be it pop, 90s classics, or rock and roll. This initiative supports the organization's mission to enrich lives by connecting individuals with nature and their community.
Community Engagement and Wellbeing
Organiser Marc Young emphasizes the wellbeing benefits of these events. “It’s all about getting people outdoors for their health and wellbeing,” he states. The hikes have effectively fostered a spirit of camaraderie among participants, many of whom leave their inhibitions behind as they hike with glow sticks in hand, celebrating the joy of movement in a safe environment.
Expanding Horizons
With an already established rapport with the National Trust, the Sunnywood Project is expanding its reach, hosting hikes in various picturesque locations such as Tatton Park and Dunham Massey. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, with a growing online presence and community interest further enhancing the project's success.
Event Details and Participation
The next silent disco hike is set for Saturday, June 13, beginning at 6 PM at the Lumb Carr Road car park in Ramsbottom. Tickets are priced at £15.50, and with space for up to 90 participants, these events promise a lively blend of music, movement, and nature. It’s an invitation to step outside your comfort zone and engage in a uniquely uplifting experience.
