Transforming Liverpool: The Bright Future of Northern Lights

In a significant development for the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool, the community interest company Baltic Creative has transferred the management of the Northern Lights project to Dusanj Real Estate. This project has been instrumental in revitalizing the area, making it a hub for creativity, arts, and independent businesses.
A Vision Realized
The Northern Lights initiative successfully transformed 45,000 square feet of previously disused warehouses into a vibrant space dedicated to artists, designer-makers, and the creative industries. Supported by significant investments, including a £310,000 loan and £90,000 from Baltic Creative, it has served as a catalyst for the ongoing redevelopment of the Cains Brewery Village area.
Fostering Community and Growth
Over the past nine years, the project has supported a diverse range of businesses and has been an integral part of Liverpool's independent creative arts economy. It has hosted multiple events, including exhibitions during Light Night and showcases like the recent one by Modern Toss. The ongoing presence of tenants, such as the artist-led gallery The Royal Standard and Ryde Coffee shop, underscores the project's success and communal spirit.
Looking Ahead
As the operational management is passed to Dusanj Real Estate, the future remains bright for the Baltic Triangle. With ambitious plans for further development, the goal is to enhance this area's status as a vibrant destination for creativity and enterprise.
According to Lynn Haime, CEO at Baltic Creative, "Northern Lights has been a vital part of our journey and transformation in the area. We're proud to create an affordable and dynamic home for artists and makers.” This sentiment is echoed by Ajmail Dusanj, who emphasized the importance of building on the project’s success while attracting new partners to ensure its continued growth.
This handover marks not just the end of a chapter for Northern Lights, but the beginning of new opportunities for the artistic community in Liverpool, reinforcing the area's reputation as a thriving center of culture and creativity.
