Transformational Project Northern Lights Leaves Lasting Impact on Liverpool's Baltic Triangle

The Baltic Creative community interest company has successfully completed a significant chapter in Liverpool's artistic landscape with the transition of the Northern Lights project to Dusanj Real Estate. This initiative, which has revitalized a portion of the Cains Brewery Village, exemplifies how community-driven efforts can foster a thriving creative ecosystem.
A Flourishing Hub for Artists and Creatives
Spanning 45,000 square feet, the Northern Lights project transformed disused warehouses into a bespoke environment tailored for artists, designer-makers, and creative enterprises. Through substantial support, including a £310,000 Social Investment Business Loan and an investment of £90,000 from Baltic Creative itself, the project has acted as a catalyst for the redevelopment of the Baltic Triangle, attracting various independent brands and vibrant venues such as Boxpark and Baltic Market.
Lasting Community Impact
Over its nine-year tenure, Northern Lights has served as a launching pad for countless businesses, supporting Liverpool's independent creative sector. It has hosted numerous events, including notable exhibitions and showcases, truly embedding itself within the community. As Lynn Haime, CEO of Baltic Creative CIC, stated, "Northern Lights was set up as a project to do two things – to create a home for the arts and creative communities and act as a further catalyst for an emerging part of the Baltic Triangle." This objective has been successfully met, allowing for a flourishing neighborhood that sees thousands of visitors weekly.
Future Prospects Beyond Northern Lights
With the management of Northern Lights now under Dusanj Real Estate, the future of the area looks promising. Ajmail Dusanj, Director at Dusanj Real Estate, expressed a commitment to further enhancing the Baltic Triangle as a cultural hub. This vision includes continuing to support current tenants while also attracting new partners to enrich the community and its creative offerings.
The successful handover of Northern Lights marks not just an ending, but a new beginning for both the tenants and the overarching vision of regeneration in Liverpool. Baltic Creative is also excited about exploring future projects that will continue to promote growth in the region's creative and digital landscapes, ensuring that Liverpool remains a prominent destination for the arts.
