Solihull Council Shines Bright with Outstanding Adult Social Care Rating
In an impressive achievement, Solihull Council has received a ‘good’ rating for its adult social care services from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This accolade not only underscores the quality of care being provided, but it also positions Solihull among the top five local authorities in the country, reflecting a commendable commitment to community welfare.
Key Highlights from the CQC Assessment
The CQC's detailed assessment process included an onsite inspection last November, culminating in a comprehensive report published on March 18. Solihull scored an impressive 84 percent, securing the fifth position nationwide. The evaluation focused on nine essential quality areas, with several receiving high praise. Areas such as assessing people's needs, supporting healthier lifestyles, and ensuring care continuity were all rated as ‘good,’ demonstrating effective management and care integration.
Outstanding Areas of Service
Notably, three areas earned an outstanding rating of 4, indicating excellence in service delivery. These included equity in experience and outcomes, robust governance and management, and effective partnerships with community organizations. The CQC recognized the crucial role that community advice hubs play in connecting with traditionally harder-to-reach groups, which enhances the support available to residents.
Leadership and Dedication Shine Through
The assessment team lauded the leadership at Solihull Council, highlighting the strong, steady team that understands the needs of its population and plans for the future. Chris Badger, CQC’s chief inspector, noted that the culture within the organization fosters motivation and confidence among staff, ultimately benefiting the community they serve.
Acknowledgment from Council Leaders
Reacting to this significant recognition, Councillor Tony Dicicco expressed his delight at the commendation, attributing this success to the hard work and compassion of the staff. He emphasized that this rating serves as a strong foundation for ongoing improvements to their services.
Moreover, Jenny Wood, the director of adult social care, echoed these sentiments, stating that the acknowledgment of their workforce as kind and dedicated is a reflection of the positive feedback they continually receive from the community.
As Solihull continues to set higher standards in adult social care, this positive outcome offers a promising glimpse into their future endeavors aimed at enhancing the well-being and support available to all residents.
