Revolutionary Summer Program Transforms Futures for Young People in Moray

A recent initiative aimed at empowering school leavers in Moray has proven to be a remarkable success, with every single participant progressing to positive outcomes. The Moray Pathways Local Employability Partnership Summer Programme provided a holistic support system for 21 young individuals aged 15 to 18, facilitating their transition into meaningful opportunities.

A Comprehensive Support System

Over the course of six weeks at UHI Moray, the program was orchestrated by Moray Council's Employability Youth Work Team with collaborative efforts from various local organizations, including Skills Development Scotland and Developing the Young Workforce Moray. The unwavering commitment of these teams focused on ensuring that each participant not only built valuable skills but also gained confidence and explored their future pathways.

Impressive Outcomes

Reflecting on the experiences, 76% of participants have successfully moved on to college, while 19% are engaging in personal development opportunities and 5% have found employment. This achievement underscores the effective framework established by the program, emphasizing the importance of tailored support as young individuals navigate this critical stage of their lives.

The summer program featured a diverse range of activities designed to engage and inspire, such as circus skills workshops, workplace visits, and team-building exercises. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Isla, a recent participant, shared her experience, stating, "It's an amazing and worth doing experience. It gave me the opportunity to do some things I've never done before and make new friends or see old friends again."
