Portland Sets New Guinness World Record with Largest Electric Bike Ride!
In a remarkable display of community spirit and enthusiasm for sustainable transportation, Portland has officially become the Guinness World Record champion for the largest electric bike ride. This celebration occurred in honor of Biketown, the city’s e-bike share program, marking its ten-year anniversary.
An Unforgettable Gathering
Yesterday's event attracted a whopping 1,060 cyclists, who rode through the streets of downtown Portland, surpassing Seattle's previous record of 405 participants. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as both seasoned and novice riders took part in this historic gathering, showcasing the city's commitment to eco-friendly transportation alternatives.
Celebrating Diversity at the Pride Parade
In addition to the biking milestone, this weekend also saw Portland host its colorful Pride Parade, celebrating love and equality. With thousands attending the festivities, the sense of community was palpable. Notably, 22 couples took the opportunity to declare their love by marrying or renewing their vows simultaneously at Darcelle XV Plaza, officiated by local drag icon Poison Waters.
These two events not only highlight Portland's vibrant cultural scene but also its dedication to inclusive values and sustainable practices. As the city continues to celebrate unity and innovation, it sets a positive example for communities everywhere.
