Mark Kendall's Inspiring Battle Against Cancer: A Story of Hope and Resilience

In a recent interview, GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall shared an uplifting update on his journey battling stage four kidney cancer. Despite the challenges presented by his diagnosis, Kendall expressed optimism regarding his health and his treatment progress.

A Turning Point in Treatment

Kendall revealed that he has been undergoing immunotherapy, which has significantly impacted his condition. Under the guidance of Dr. Shuch from UCLA, Kendall received infusions of Keytruda and daily doses of Lenvima, a combination that has helped shrink his tumor from an initial size of 13 centimeters to just five centimeters, now isolated in his kidney. This remarkable reduction in size has brought him a renewed sense of hope.

The Importance of a Positive Outlook

While initially struggling with the fear and uncertainty that accompany a cancer diagnosis, Kendall has since learned that his condition is manageable. His doctors have reassured him that many individuals live with similar types of cancer for decades. "It's manageable," he reiterated. "If you ever get cancer, you kind of wanna get thyroid cancer or kidney cancer... it’s something that's more controllable.”

Reflecting on Life and Music

Mark Kendall's resilience extends beyond his health challenges. He is currently working on an autobiography titled 'Soul Of A Man,' which delves into his life, music career, and personal experiences. Reflecting on his musical journey, Kendall revealed how deeply intertwined his passion for guitar is with his emotional expression. "The thing I love about the guitar is it's an instrument that allows me to express myself in how I'm feeling," he explained, emphasizing the emotive power of music.
