Local Girl's Uplifting Art Brings Joy to the City

Neriyah-Faith Spencer, a young artist from Wolverhampton, has embarked on a heartwarming mission to spread joy through her handwritten posters adorned with uplifting messages. Phrases like 'you are amazing' and 'you are stronger than you think' have been crafted by Neriyah in an effort to brighten the spirits of those who see them.

A Community Initiative

Her inspiring endeavor caught the attention of the City of Wolverhampton Council, which reached out to propose a more permanent location for displaying her artwork. Together, they expanded and installed her cheerful messages on the walls of Chesterton Road, off Cannock Road. This initiative allows not just residents, but also commuters and visitors, to engage with her positive artwork on a daily basis.

Neriyah's Joy and Family Pride

Neriyah expressed her excitement upon seeing her messages publicly displayed: “I’m so happy that my messages are on the walls for everyone to see,” she shared. Her father, Daniel, echoed her pride, emphasizing her selfless intention to uplift others during difficult times. “I’m so proud of her for thinking about others, and I’m really grateful to the council for working with us and helping her spread that positivity in such a supportive way,” he said.

The Power of Kindness

Councillor Stephen Simkins, Leader of the City of Wolverhampton Council, highlighted the broader significance of Neriyah's project, noting it exemplifies the power of kindness and community spirit. “Neriyah’s messages are simple, honest and full of heart,” he remarked. “These displays are a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference, and we’re proud to help share that message across Wolverhampton.”

As the council looks to maintain and potentially expand these displays, they hope to inspire others to spread kindness in their own spheres, further reinforcing the positive impact of community initiatives.
