Local Cattery's Inspiring Transformation: A New Era of Care and Comfort

In an uplifting story of resilience and dedication, the owners of Snuggles Cattery in Carlisle, Steven and Lorraine Langstaff, have proudly reopened their business following an extensive refurbishment. After over a decade of hard work, the couple decided it was time to enhance their cattery, ensuring a higher standard of care for their beloved feline visitors.

A Major Overhaul for a Cleaner, Welcoming Environment

The refurbishment process began eight months ago, with the cattery closing in November 2025 for the transformative work. According to Steven and Lorraine, they stripped the facility back to its brick structure and undertook significant upgrades themselves, including electrical work and installation of new heating systems. This hands-on approach not only kept renovation costs manageable but also allowed them to maintain affordable pricing for their customers.

Supporting Local Businesses

In a commendable show of community spirit, the Langstaffs sourced materials from local suppliers. Their commitment to utilizing local businesses like Cumbria Building Supplies and Window Shop helped sustain the regional economy while ensuring that the refurbishment reflected the quality and craftsmanship of their community.

Excitement for New Beginnings

The newly designed Snuggles Cattery promises a more inviting atmosphere for both cats and their owners. "The work has lit up the main cattery, made it easier to keep clean, and made it more welcoming for the cats staying with us," shared the couple. With the renovations now complete, they are excitedly looking forward to welcoming back returning clients and discovering new ones.

Looking Ahead

As they continue to grow their business, Steven and Lorraine expressed their eagerness to provide exceptional care for the cats while keeping prices low for pet owners. They also have plans for future investments to enhance their facilities further. “We are so happy to see many of our regulars returning and new customers,” they added. “We cannot wait to continue providing the best care we can for the cats staying with us.”

This uplifting story not only highlights the Langstaffs' dedication to their business but also underscores the importance of community support and local engagement in service industries.
