Local Care Home Achieves Major Improvement in Quality Rating
In a notable turnaround, the Bankfield Residential Care Home in Bury has achieved a 'Good' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a recent inspection. This significant upgrade from its previous 'Inadequate' rating marks an important milestone for the care home and its dedicated staff.

The CQC's comprehensive evaluation saw Bankfield rated positively across all five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. The inspection was conducted over several months, culminating in a report published on June 9. Nikki Entwistle, the registered manager, expressed pride in her team's collective efforts, emphasizing that the improvements were a result of dedication from every staff member.
Changes Since the Transition
Since being taken over by Abbendon Healthcare Ltd in August 2023, Bankfield has undergone extensive changes aimed at enhancing overall care quality. These improvements have included better staff training and enhanced governance and care planning practices. Jaison Joseph, the director, acknowledged the commitment of the entire team as well as the support from residents and their families, stating that their cooperation was essential in the journey towards improvement.
