Lambeth Civic Awards: Celebrating Community Excellence

Cllr Claire Holland, Leader of Lambeth Council, emphasized the importance of these awards, stating, “This year’s Lambeth Civic Awards were a brilliant celebration of everything that is great about Lambeth.” She noted that the awards have been reinstated as a means of celebrating the significant work undertaken by individuals and organizations within the community.

The nomination process for these awards involved residents of Lambeth who were encouraged to recognize the remarkable efforts of their peers. Over a five-week period, locals submitted nominations, resulting in thirty-four finalists across seven categories, showcasing an impressive array of talent and dedication towards the enhancement of community life.
Cllr Donatus Anyanwu, the Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, expressed his enthusiasm during the event, reflecting on the inspiring stories shared by the nominees. “It was a pleasure to attend the Lambeth Civic Awards again this year, and to hear so many inspiring stories,” he remarked, highlighting the deep connection that residents have with their community.
Winners and Their Impact
The list of award winners further exemplifies the vast contributions to the borough. Among the recipients, Djed Khan-Warsop earned the Mayor’s Award for his outstanding volunteer efforts, while the Climate and Green Spaces Award was presented to the Myatt’s Fields Park Project, recognizing its dedication to environmental sustainability.
Other notable winners included Dr. Ron Dodzro for the Safer Lambeth Award and The Boury Academy for the Arts and Cultural Heritage Award, alongside various organizations committed to social enterprise and health and wellbeing.
