Inspiring Success: Montirex Founders Honored with Doctorates
The dynamic duo behind Montirex, a thriving UK-based clothing brand, are set to receive honorary doctorates from Edge Hill University, celebrating their remarkable entrepreneurial journey and contribution to the community. Daniel Yuen and Kieran Riddell-Austin, who co-founded the sportswear line in 2019, will be honored during the university’s summer graduation ceremonies, which will see the celebration of 4,000 graduates.
A Journey Fueled by Determination
Expressing his gratitude, Daniel remarked on the honor, recognizing the hard work and perseverance that led them to this moment. He stated, “It is truly humbling to know that our story could inspire the next generation of students to follow their own dreams.” Montirex began its journey in Kieran’s family kitchen, and has since evolved into a celebrated brand known for its stylish and accessible sportswear. From launching with just three t-shirts, the company now operates from a significant 52,000 sq ft headquarters in Liverpool, employing over 100 local individuals.
Recognized Achievements and Future Plans
Their journey into entrepreneurship has been marked by notable partnerships with major retailers like Footasylum, JD Sports, and ASOS, allowing them to elevate Montirex onto both national and international platforms. Their accomplishments garnered them a spot on the esteemed Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list for Retail and E-Commerce in 2024, further solidifying their status in the industry.
Giving Back to the Community
The upcoming honorary awards coincide with the launch of The Montirex Foundation, aimed at fostering positive community engagement through initiatives focusing on youth sports, mental health, and community development projects across the UK. This initiative demonstrates their commitment to improving the physical and mental wellbeing of young people while addressing grassroots sports.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Professor Kurt Allman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Edge Hill University, praised their entrepreneurial spirit and their role as community role models, especially for aspiring young entrepreneurs from working-class backgrounds. He highlighted the transformative power of education and how Kieran's journey exemplifies the values that Edge Hill seeks to instill in its students.
As Montirex founders step into this new chapter as honorary doctors, they continue to inspire countless individuals to chase their dreams, proving that with grit and determination, ordinary beginnings can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.
