Inspiring Stories Await at This Year’s Dyslexia Awards
The Dyslexia Awards, a nationally celebrated event dedicated to recognising extraordinary talent among dyslexic individuals, is returning this autumn in the West Midlands. This year promises to be even more exceptional, as Elizabeth Wilkinson MBE, the founder, opens nominations for various awards that spotlight the unique strengths and achievements of people with dyslexia.
Celebrating Exceptional Talent
The upcoming awards will feature eight categories specifically designed for dyslexics, each aiming to honour their diverse contributions across numerous fields. New categories include the STEMM Award for adults over 18 making significant strides in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medicine, and the Young Innovator Award for teenagers aged 14-19 showcasing innovative ideas.
A Tradition of Recognition
Previous recipients of the Dyslexia Awards have made remarkable impacts worldwide, showcasing how dyslexic thinking can foster creativity and success. These awards not only highlight individual accomplishments but also promote a greater understanding and awareness of dyslexia in society.
Encouragement and Empowerment
Wilkinson emphasises that dyslexia affects approximately one in ten individuals, often presenting challenges related to language processing and retention. However, she asserts that with the right support and encouragement, dyslexic individuals can thrive in various areas of life. “With appropriate teaching and the encouragement to follow their dreams, dyslexics can and do succeed in all walks of life,” she remarked.
