Jonathan, originally from Minchinhampton, has turned personal tragedy into motivation, feeling "really good" to be a part of this significant exhibition. His life took a challenging turn at 18 when he fell ill while training to be a ski instructor in Canada. However, he has not let these adversities define him. With the unwavering support of Meningitis Now, he has engaged in activities like boccia, a sport tailored for individuals with severe physical disabilities, showcasing his determination to push through his limitations.

A Community's Grief Transformed into Action

The exhibition also features the heartfelt story of Michelle Bresnahan, whose son Ryan tragically lost his life to meningitis at 16. In his memory, she, along with family and friends, founded A Life for a Cure, a charity that has impressively raised over £610,000 for research into the condition. Their journey embodies hope and the strength found in community support, emphasizing that healing can arise from even the most painful experiences.

Progress and Continued Need for Awareness

Tom Nutt, the CEO of Meningitis Now, stated, "In many ways, it's been a good news story since 1986," noting a significant decrease in bacterial meningitis cases in the UK due to advocacy and research. However, he reminds us that the journey is far from over, as continued efforts are vital in combating this illness. The exhibition, which is free and ticketless, aims to raise awareness of the ongoing work required to further reduce incidences of meningitis.
