Inspiring Journey: JJ's Triumph Through Supported Internship Program

In a heartwarming tale of growth and achievement, JJ has successfully completed a Supported Internship placement, marking a significant milestone in his journey toward independence and employment. This innovative program, designed for young individuals aged 16 and over with an Education, Health and Care Plan, combines practical work experience with formal training, equipping participants with the skills needed for the competitive job market.

A Growing Confidence

Throughout the last academic year, JJ dedicated two days a week to supporting the hub, while spending the remaining days in training. Initially anxious about joining the program, JJ's confidence flourished as he engaged in various activities. Notably, he demonstrated his newfound skills by leading a music session for 25 participants at the Community Fun Day, where he performed beloved Beatles songs, effectively welcoming visitors and spreading joy.

Support and Recognition

Catherine Price, the Family Hub Co-ordinator for Solihull Council, expressed her pride in JJ's development. "It’s been wonderful to see his confidence grow. We’ve received numerous compliments about his contributions to the hub," she noted. Recognizing his potential, Catherine extended JJ’s journey by offering him a continued role, ensuring that he can build on his success in the coming years.
