Inspiring Future Champions: Lizzy Yarnold to Lead Celebration Evening
A double Olympic champion from Kent, Lizzy Yarnold OBE, aims to inspire a new generation of athletes during a celebration evening hosted by the Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust. This event, set for April 21, will focus on the trust's Talented Athlete Scheme and provide a platform for rising sporting stars.
Celebrating Achievement and Inspiration
Lizzy Yarnold, a former skeleton racer who claimed gold medals at both the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics, will share her remarkable journey and insights into elite sports. As one of Britain's most celebrated Winter Olympians, her presence is expected to motivate local athletes as they strive toward their own sporting ambitions.
Support for Local Athletes
The Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust, also known as tmactive, is excited to welcome Yarnold as they mark the second year of their Talented Athlete Scheme. This initiative is designed to support local athletes by providing benefits such as a free one-year membership to leisure facilities, access to training environments, and promotional support on media platforms. Chief Executive Emma Wood expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Her achievements at the very highest level of sport make her the perfect role model for our talented athletes.”
A Platform for Future Success
The scheme not only recognizes but actively supports local talent, fostering an environment where athletes can grow and succeed. With applications for the 2026 program closing soon, the celebration evening will serve as both an inspiring event and a reminder of the commitment to nurturing talent in the community.
