Inspiring Charity Transforms Lives Through Furniture Donations

The charity Hidden Help is making a significant difference in the Cornwall community by providing essential household items to those in need. Currently busier than ever, the organization repairs and recycles donated furniture and goods, fulfilling a vital role in supporting individuals and families facing tough circumstances.

Meeting the Needs of the Community

Founded by Judy Backus MBE in 2021 after years of dedicated work in the area, Hidden Help focuses on offering free furniture and household essentials to people referred by social services. In the past year alone, the charity has supported 821 families, with current referrals averaging around 60 per month.

Support for Vulnerable Populations

A significant portion of the charity's recipients includes individuals who are homeless or those who have fled domestic violence. Adrian "Wally" Sanders, a dedicated driver for the charity, expresses the rewarding nature of this work. He shares how grateful recipients are when they receive the essential items they need to create a home.

A Personal Success Story

One client, who remains anonymous, recently benefited from Hidden Help after losing his home to a fire. Upon moving into a temporary rental flat, he found himself without any furniture or kitchenware. The arrival of a generous delivery from Hidden Help was a turning point in his situation, providing him with not just furniture, but also practical items that made his living experience comfortable.

This story exemplifies the tangible impact that charitable organizations can have on individuals in crisis. It highlights how simple household items can bring relief and stability to those facing hardships.
