Heartwarming Tribute: Campaigner's Legacy Lives On Through Charity Runs

In an inspiring act of remembrance and commitment, Claire Lomas' husband, Dan Spincer, and best friend, Stuart Hall, are set to complete the final leg of their fundraising journey in memory of the dedicated campaigner. The duo will participate in the Great South Run, aiming to finalize their efforts to raise nearly £1 million for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, a cause that was close to Claire's heart.
A Legacy of Inspiration
Claire Lomas, originally from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, became a remarkable figure after a tragic horse accident in 2007 left her paralysed. Despite her personal challenges, Claire transformed her situation into a powerful fundraising mission, completing the London Marathon in a robotic suit in 2012. Claire's dedication to her cause not only raised significant funds but also inspired many to advocate for those living with spinal injuries.
Continuing the Fight
Following Claire’s untimely passing in 2024, Dan and Stuart, fueled by her legacy, have taken up the challenge of ensuring that her fundraising efforts do not go unnoticed. The Great South Run will be the conclusion of their 'Three Spokes Challenge,' which includes prior events in Manchester and Newcastle. They are joined in their mission by Claire's family and friends, with her daughters also participating in the Junior and Mini Great South Run, creating a memorable family affair dedicated to Claire's memory.
Words of Remembrance
Stuart Hall reflected, "Claire was my inspiration for many things but most of all she was my best friend. I feel it is right that I carry on with this fundraising as it's my way of saying thank you for letting me share her life." Dan Spincer added, "We want to carry on raising money for the same charity and hopefully see the cure, which is what Claire wanted." Their words encapsulate the sentiment behind their efforts—a heartfelt thank you to a beloved friend whose life made an extraordinary impact.
Through their commitment, Dan and Stuart are not only commemorating Claire's life but are also contributing to a cause that aims to one day provide solutions for spinal injuries, fulfilling Claire's dream. Their journey is a poignant reminder of the power of friendship and the enduring impact one person's life can have on others.
