Healthcare Heroes Set to Receive Well-Deserved Raises: A Leap Forward for Medical Professionals
In an inspiring move for the healthcare sector, Albanian healthcare workers, particularly doctors and nurses, are poised to receive a salary increase this year. On International Women's Day, Health and Social Protection Minister Ogerta Manastirliu announced an anticipated salary boost for approximately 18,000 healthcare professionals, expected to be formalized in July.
Commitment to Improvement
Minister Manastirliu emphasized the government’s commitment not only to raise salaries but also to enhance working conditions across health facilities. "We will continue to improve working conditions in our health centers, in our hospitals, so that you can perform your profession better," she stated, recognizing the vital role that healthcare workers play in saving lives and elevating the status of women in society.
Incentives to Address Doctor Shortages
To combat the pressing shortage of specialists in regional hospitals, the government has also doubled bonuses for doctors willing to work outside their residential areas. While previous incentives had limited impact, this significant increase aims to attract more healthcare professionals to underserved regions, with projected bonuses reaching 2.5 million old lek per month.
A Bright Future for New Specialists
In a positive outlook for the future, the Minister met with a promising group of new medical graduates, predominantly women, who have expressed their commitment to serving in regional hospitals upon completing their specialties. Their dedication to healthcare exemplifies a hopeful and inspired generation ready to make a difference in the Albanian medical landscape.
