Funding Boost for Community Safety Initiatives in Lisburn & Castlereagh
The Lisburn & Castlereagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has recently announced the recipients of its 2026/27 Project Support Programme, providing significant funding for local initiatives aimed at enhancing community safety and addressing anti-social behavior. This program has allocated funds of up to £5,000 to 18 local organizations, demonstrating a robust commitment to creating safer neighborhoods.
A Focus on Community-Led Projects
Chairperson of the PCSP, Councillor Declan Lynch, expressed pride in the diverse range of initiatives being funded. He stated, “We are proud to support such a wide range of community-led projects that are focused on making our neighbourhoods safer and stronger.” These projects reflect the dedication of local groups who are actively working to tackle critical social issues that affect their communities.
Targeted Initiatives for Positive Change
The awarded projects span various sectors, including those addressing anti-social behavior, drug and alcohol misuse, and support for victims of domestic violence. Noteworthy projects include:
- Annahilt & Magheraconluce Community Association: Aiming to reduce fear amongst elderly residents regarding crime.
- Derriaghy Cricket Club: Providing a safe environment for youth to engage in sports, promoting healthier lifestyles and community integration.
- St Columba’s Derryvolgie: Engaging youth through summer schemes and offering diversionary activities to promote positive local engagement.
The Path Forward
All funded projects are set to be completed by February 2027 and are intended to bring about lasting change within the Lisburn & Castlereagh area. The PCSP is encouraging other community groups to participate in future initiatives aimed at promoting safety and well-being across the community.
