Fierce Beer Launches Initiative to Promote Reforestation with New IPA

Award-winning Scottish brewery Fierce Beer is embarking on an ambitious venture that merges craft beer with environmental responsibility. The brewery has announced a major national retail listing with Sainsbury’s to celebrate the launch of the Fierce for Good Foundation, a social and environmental initiative coinciding with the brewery’s 10th anniversary. This partnership aims to leverage the popularity of a new beer to make a tangible positive impact on the UK’s natural landscape.

A Brew with a Purpose

Set to launch on April 12, 2026, the “This IPA Plants Trees” is a premium 6.2% Hazy IPA. What sets this beer apart is its commitment to sustainability; a portion of profits from each sale will be funneled into national woodland restoration projects and the safeguarding of native forests. This innovative approach aligns Fierce Beer with Sainsbury's, a retailer recognized for its long-standing efforts in woodland conservation, ensuring that each can sold contributes to broader biodiversity goals.

The Mission Behind the Foundation

The Fierce for Good Foundation represents the brewery's pledge to leverage its growth effectively for positive change. A dedicated fund will support initiatives ranging from local community programs to large-scale environmental restoration efforts and social wellbeing projects. As Managing Director Dave Grant states, “At Fierce, we’ve always believed that beer can, and should, be a force for good.” This sentiment encapsulates the brewery's ethos as it prepares to enter its second decade, highlighting the desire to make a significant positive impact alongside its expanding production.

Community Involvement and Transparency

Governance of the Fierce for Good Foundation is grounded in community engagement, as it consists of an internal steering committee made up of employees across various departments, from brewing to marketing. This structure ensures that funding decisions are closely tied to the communities in which Fierce’s staff live and work. Despite not being a registered charity, the Foundation adheres to a strict charter of transparency in its operations.

In an era where consumers are increasingly looking for ways to contribute to sustainability, the launch of “This IPA Plants Trees” presents a unique opportunity to support reforestation efforts through everyday purchases. Grant emphasizes that their vision extends beyond merely selling beer, declaring, “We want to help create a world where business plays its part in lasting positive change: one beer, one community and one project at a time.”
