Exciting Plans Approved for Whiterock Community Revitalization

A significant milestone has been achieved in Whiterock, Belfast, as plans for a transformative project combining social housing with a new children's centre received the green light from the Belfast City Council. Progress on Social Housing Units

Currently, construction is well underway for the initial phase, which includes 62 social housing units on the former Belfast Metropolitan College campus. Local developers Newpark Homes have been actively working on site for over a year, transforming the area into a more vibrant and supportive environment.

Deirdre Walsh, the Director of the Whiterock Children's Centre, expressed her enthusiasm about the project's progress, highlighting its five-year journey. "We have an application in for our final piece of funding for the project and we are very confident of quick progress now," she stated. The upcoming development aims to integrate the children's centre with family homes, a concept that Walsh believes is essential for fostering community spirit.

Political Backing and Community Investment

West Belfast MP Paul Maskey has also voiced his support, declaring his delight at the planning approval. He emphasized the importance of the new facility for the Whiterock area, stating, "This is massive investment for the Whiterock Road."
