Exciting Opportunity for Artists: Liverpool Sculpture Prize 2026 Now Open!

The Liverpool Sculpture Prize is inviting talented artists to showcase their creativity as it opens for its third year. This prestigious competition offers the winning artist a chance to display their work in one of the UK's most vibrant cities—Liverpool—for a full twelve months, along with a monetary prize of £2,500.

Call for Entries: Recognition Awaits

Open to all sculptors residing in the UK, this year's call for entries commenced on February 8 and will continue until April 8, 2026. A distinguished judging panel drawn from the art world, business community, and creative sectors will select the winning piece, which is set to be unveiled to the public in June 2026.

A Prominent Display Location

The selected artwork will be exhibited at the Liverpool Parish Church, either at the striking plinth on Chapel Street or within the garden that overlooks the scenic Liverpool waterfront. This prominent location has previously hosted significant artworks, including Brian Burgess’s 'Christ on a Donkey' and various installations as part of notable art events like the Liverpool Biennial.

Celebrating Previous Success

Last year's Sculpture Prize was awarded to Wirral artist Ben Stephenson for his evocative work, 'Laminae'. This piece, inspired by Stephenson's experiences in South America, utilized rammed earth to convey themes of time, erosion, and regeneration. Katie Bentley, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications at Liverpool Business Improvement District, expressed her admiration for the piece, noting its uplifting impact on those who encounter it.

Anticipation for New Submissions

With the excitement surrounding the upcoming submissions, Bentley emphasized the importance of public art in fostering community connections and engaging diverse audiences. "We are looking for artwork that is thought-provoking and will catch the eye of those who walk past," she stated.
