The city of Derby is buzzing with excitement following the grand opening of Bustler's new food court, strategically located between Sadler Gate and St James's Street. This vibrant new establishment promises to be a focal point for food lovers and a gathering place for the community, filled with a diverse range of dining options.
A Perfect Location for a Culinary Hub
After relocating from The Chocolate Factory, Bustler has crafted an inviting space comprising shipping containers that host around a dozen businesses. These establishments range from bars and cafes to pizza parlours, cookie shops, and even a quaint bookshop. With a seating capacity for at least 100 visitors on a beautifully decked area, the food court is already welcoming locals and visitors alike.
Business Owners Thriving in Their New Space
Among the enthusiastic business owners is Neelam Atique, co-owner of Dollies, an American-style cookie shop. Excitedly sharing her journey, Neelam expressed her joy about their first permanent location: "We have a great relationship with Bustler over the years...we're really excited to be part of it." The couple is known for their delectable cookies, offering a variety of recipes that are sure to delight customers.
Local Flavor Flourishes
Ben Trivett, the owner of El Capo's pizza, echoed similar sentiments about the food court's significance to the community. “It's everything Derby needs in the heart of town,” he noted, reflecting on the vibrant atmosphere created by the opening day crowds. His pizzeria aims to bring quality independent dining to the city, adding to the kaleidoscope of culinary experiences Bustler offers.
A Unique Touch with Community Spirit
Furthermore, Bearded Badger Publishing has set up a micro-library corner within the food court, enhancing the inviting ambiance. Ben Handley, who works at the bookstore with his father, mentioned how the opening day brought a “delighted” response from visitors. “People love popping in and having a browse,” he said, emphasizing the harmonious blend of food and literature.
The Bustler food court, open from 9 am to 10 pm on weekdays and until 11 pm on weekends, is not just a place to eat, but a new hub for community engagement and exploration.
