Exciting New Family Hubs to Empower Parents and Children in Derbyshire
In a promising development for families in Derbyshire, two new Best Start Family Hubs are set to open, providing essential parenting support and resources in response to rising living costs. These hubs aim to bolster community support and childcare services in a time when many families are facing significant challenges.
What the New Hubs Offer
These facilities will serve as a one-stop-shop for parenting advice, health support, and early assistance for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). With the launch of these hubs, parents will have access to crucial services such as infant feeding advice, parenting workshops, and more, all without the financial burden of private sessions.
A Community Focus
Located in Chesterfield's Rother Ward and Erewash’s Cotmanhay, these hubs are part of a larger initiative featuring up to 1,000 hubs across the country by 2028. Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins emphasized the importance of these openings, describing the Rother Ward hub as a "major boost for local families." His enthusiasm underscores the positive impact these hubs will have in alleviating the pressures associated with parenting and financial concerns.
A Broader Support Network
In addition to parenting support, families will also benefit from free stay and play sessions that can save them up to £200 a year. Many of these hubs will offer debt advice and welfare guidance, empowering families to improve their financial situation and ensure they are not missing out on available support services.
Government's Commitment to Families
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson highlighted the government's commitment to supporting families during challenging times. With her personal experience of the positive impact that Sure Start had on communities, she advocates for reimagined support systems that address the needs of today’s parents and children.
The establishment of the Best Start Family Hubs represents a significant step toward reinforcing family support networks, ultimately aiming to ensure that every child receives the best possible start in life. As these hubs begin to open, many families in Derbyshire can look forward to a brighter, more supported future.
