In a significant development for families in Derbyshire, two new Best Start Family Hubs are set to open, providing vital support for parents and children. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial pressures of parenting and enhance support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

What These Hubs Offer

The upcoming hubs, located in Chesterfield's Rother Ward and Cotmanhay in Erewash, are part of a larger national plan to establish 200 Best Start Family Hubs across the country. These facilities will provide a range of services, including free stay and play sessions, parenting advice, and health support, all under one roof. Families will no longer need to rely on costly private classes or specialist support, making resources more accessible to those in need.

Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins expressed his enthusiasm for the new hub, labeling it a “major boost for local families.” He emphasizes that these resources are essential for families facing the dual challenges of rising living costs and accessible education for children with SEND.
