Exciting New Exhibition Set to Celebrate Women's Stories in Chichester

The Novium Museum in Chichester is gearing up for an inspiring new exhibition titled ChichestHER: Their Story, Our Inspiration, which will highlight the vital contributions of women connected to the district. Set to open in October 2026, this exhibition is a part of a two-year project backed by a generous £117,266 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Community-Driven Collaboration

Amanda Rogan, the manager of The Novium Museum and Tourist Information Centre, stated, "This exhibition will tell stories that deserve to be better known across Chichester district." She emphasized the importance of community involvement in shaping the content of the exhibition. The museum is encouraging local residents to participate in focus groups where they can share their ideas and feedback, ensuring the exhibition reflects the community's voice.

A Platform for Untold Stories

ChichestHER aims to bring together research, oral histories, and creative work to provide a comprehensive view of women's lives throughout Chichester District. The museum is particularly inviting individuals with an interest in women’s contributions to take part in a focus group on May 8. This initiative is an opportunity for the community to engage with the museum's mission and contribute to a narrative that has often been overlooked.

Join the Conversation

Participants do not need prior experience in museums or volunteering, making this an accessible opportunity for anyone interested in the subject matter. By sharing their insights, residents can help shape a project that promises to resonate with both the local community and future visitors alike.

This exhibition is not just a celebration of the past; it is a call to action for community members to contribute to a shared legacy, ensuring that the stories of inspiring women are honored and brought to the forefront.
