Exciting New Chapter for Adaptive Golf in Central Oregon
Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) is making waves in the community with the launch of its 2026 summer adaptive golf season. This initiative aims to broaden the horizons of adaptive golfing opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Central Oregon, fostering inclusivity and outdoor engagement.
Kickoff Events to Engage the Community
The season will commence with an Adaptive Golf Community Clinic on May 28, followed by the much-anticipated Community Golf Kickoff BBQ on June 2, both hosted at the beautiful Sunriver Resort Meadows Golf Course. These events are strategically designed to invite participation from everyone—both those with disabilities and those without—promoting a sense of community through sport.
Expanding Opportunities for All
OAS is collaborating with prestigious partners such as Sunriver Resort, the US Adaptive Golf Alliance, and the Adaptive Golf Academy to enrich these events. The Community Clinic aims not only to enhance the skills of adaptive golf coaches but also to strengthen connections among OAS athletes and local community members. This approach ensures that adaptive golf becomes accessible to all, breaking down barriers and enhancing social interaction.
A Commitment to Inclusion
As the summer progresses, additional community golf sessions are scheduled at Sunriver Resort, with dates set for June 30, July 28, August 25, and September 22. These events reflect a strong commitment to creating welcoming spaces for outdoor recreation and demonstrating the importance of inclusivity in sports. Each session will feature personalized support for participants, including the availability of adaptive golf carts and encouragement for individuals to bring their personal mobility equipment, if needed.
In a world where sports can often feel exclusive, OAS’s efforts stand out as a beacon of hope and determination. More information about the adaptive golf programming can be found at oregonadaptivesports.org, paving the way for a promising and engaging summer season for the community.
