Exciting New Adaptive Golf Season Kicks Off in Oregon!

The community in Central Oregon is set to witness an exciting boost in inclusive sports as Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) prepares to launch its 2026 summer community golf season. Targeted at individuals with disabilities, this initiative promises to broaden the scope of adaptive golf opportunities in the region.

Launch Events and Partnerships

The season commences with a kickoff Adaptive Golf Community Clinic on May 28, followed by a Community Golf Kickoff BBQ on June 2, both taking place at the picturesque Sunriver Resort Meadows Golf Course. OAS is collaborating with esteemed partners such as Sunriver Resort, the US Adaptive Golf Alliance, and the Adaptive Golf Academy to enhance the offerings for adaptive golf.

Enhancing Skills and Community Connections

The Adaptive Golf Community Clinic, scheduled for May 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., will focus on skill-building and fostering connections among adaptive golf coaches, athletes, and community members. This inclusive clinic is designed not only to improve golfing skills but also to strengthen community ties.

A Free Community BBQ to Celebrate

Furthermore, the Community Golf Kickoff BBQ on June 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. is a free event open to everyone, regardless of ability. This initiative underscores OAS’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all, paving the way for a full season of adaptive golf programming.

Ongoing Community Engagement

Community golf sessions at Sunriver Resort are scheduled throughout the summer, with events taking place on June 30, July 28, August 25, and September 22. These events highlight the ongoing commitment to provide engaging and accessible outdoor activities for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have ample opportunities to participate in recreational sports.

The introduction of these new golf opportunities continues to build on OAS's established programs at the Awbrey Glen Golf Club.

With added resources such as an adaptive golf cart available at the clinic, OAS encourages participants to bring their personal mobility equipment, reinforcing their dedication to inclusivity in sports.

More details regarding OAS's golf programming can be found on their official website, oregonadaptivesports.org. The upcoming season not only highlights the importance of adaptive sports but also fosters a spirit of community, showing that golf is truly a game for everyone.
