Exciting New Adaptive Golf Initiatives Launch in Central Oregon!
Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) is set to introduce an invigorating summer community golf season for 2026, promising new events and expanded opportunities for adaptive golf in the Central Oregon region. This initiative underscores OAS's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in sports for individuals with disabilities.
Community Engagement Kicks Off with Special Events
The season will kick off with an Adaptive Golf Community Clinic on May 28, followed by a Community Golf Kickoff BBQ on June 2, both taking place at the picturesque Sunriver Resort Meadows Golf Course. These events are designed to foster connection and build skills among adaptive golf coaches, OAS athletes, and interested community members.
The clinic, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage with golf in a supportive environment. Additionally, the BBQ event from 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. allows community members—whether they have a disability or not—to come together and celebrate the launch of a summer full of adaptive golfing activities.
Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusion
By partnering with key organizations such as Sunriver Resort, the US Adaptive Golf Alliance, and the Adaptive Golf Academy, OAS aims to significantly enhance the golfing experience for individuals with disabilities. The adaptive golf programming will continue through the summer with sessions scheduled at Sunriver Resort and Awbrey Glen Golf Club, ensuring that the joy of golf is accessible to all.
This initiative not only reflects a dedication to promoting active lifestyles among individuals with disabilities but also highlights the importance of creating a welcoming community where everyone can enjoy the outdoors through sports.
For those interested in participating, information regarding registration and programming can be found at the Oregon Adaptive Sports website. This summer, OAS is making strides to ensure that adaptive golf is not just a sport, but a pathway to building friendships and community connections.
