Exciting Accomplishments and Aspirations as Summer Approaches
The end of the semester is not only a time for reflection but also a moment for celebration and anticipation at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). This year, several staff members are not only looking forward to the summer break but are also celebrating remarkable achievements and engaging in inspiring initiatives.
Community Leadership and Development Initiatives
Congratulations are in order for Assistant Director Mei Qi, who has been elected to serve on the Rochester Regional Library Council Board of Trustees through June 2026. This achievement highlights the commitment to advancing library services in the multi-county region that includes significant institutions like RIT Libraries. Such leadership roles are pivotal in enriching library cooperation, resource sharing, and service delivery.
Additionally, Sandra Whitmore, executive director for Marketing and Operations, recently served as a mentor at the Girls Professional Development Day organized by the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley. This event engaged thirty young women in one-on-one mentoring sessions and workshops, helping them articulate their future aspirations and gain insights essential for achieving their goals.
Anticipating Student Success and Community Engagement
Director Victor Davidson expressed excitement for welcoming Upward Bound students to campus this summer for workshops led by RIT professors. This initiative not only enhances educational opportunities but also fosters personal connections within the community. Furthermore, leaders such as Imani Baker and David Wick resonate with the enthusiasm of seeing students graduate and engaging in family activities, emphasizing the importance of community and family ties during this joyful season.
As the RIT community looks forward to summer, the blend of professional development, student engagement, and personal milestones reflects a commitment to growth and success. Whether it’s celebrating graduations, mentoring future leaders, or simply enjoying quality time with family, the upcoming months promise to be enriching for the entire RIT community.
