Operating from his studio in Byram Arcade for nearly four decades, John Woods seeks to redefine the narrative around aging and self-image. “Women over 40 are too often told they should step away from the camera,” he asserts. “That is nonsense. This project is not about chasing youth; it is about being photographed as you are, with all the experience that comes with it.”

Professional Styling and Personal Stories

The photography sessions come complete with professional hair, make-up, and styling, ensuring that every participant feels their best. Beyond the photography, the project will also highlight personal narratives. After their sessions, participants will complete a short questionnaire that will be used to create a bespoke magazine featuring their portraits alongside real-life stories that reflect the rich experiences of local women over 40.
