Empowering Moldovan Citizens: Exciting New Social Security Agreement with Slovakia
In a significant development for Moldovan citizens working abroad, a new Social Security Agreement between Moldova and Slovakia promises to enhance the welfare of those who have contributed to the Slovak economy. The agreement was officially signed in Bratislava by Moldova's Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Natalia Plugaru, alongside Marián Valentovič, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family of Slovakia.
A Step Towards Fairness and Security
This landmark agreement paves the way for Moldovans who have worked in Slovakia to access vital social benefits including old-age pensions, disability pensions, and survivor's pensions. It establishes a robust framework that ensures that the social rights of individuals who have labored in both nations are recognized and respected, regardless of where they reside.
Commitment to Citizen Welfare
Minister Plugaru emphasized Moldova's dedication to actively seeking out and implementing bilateral agreements that protect citizen rights. "Each signed agreement reflects our firm commitment to protecting the rights of citizens, wherever they are. We will continue to build an increasingly comprehensive social protection system for the benefit of citizens," she stated. This reflects Moldova's broader strategy to enhance the social safety net for its citizens working overseas.
Establishing Global Connections
The signing of this agreement comes during a diplomatic visit by President Maia Sandu to Bratislava, highlighting the importance of international relations in advancing Moldova's interests. With 22 Social Security Agreements now in place, and 18 already operational, Moldova is building a strong network of social protections in key countries like Italy, Greece, and Canada.
This agreement not only represents a crucial step forward in the welfare of Moldovan workers in Slovakia but also signifies Moldova's ongoing commitment to fostering international partnerships that prioritize citizen security and well-being.
