Don't Miss the Exciting Return of the UK’s Biggest Family Water Safety Festival!

The much-anticipated H2O Heroes event is set to make waves at The Deep aquarium in Hull, running from May 23 to 31. This family-friendly festival, now in its fourth year, is focused on the vital theme of water safety, providing a unique opportunity for families to engage in learning while having fun.

A Collaborative Effort for Water Safety Education

The H2O Heroes event boasts an impressive collaboration of rescue organisations, including the RNLI, HM Coastguard, Humber Rescue, Humberside Police Marine Protect Unit, as well as newcomers Hornsea Inshore Rescue and Humberside Fire & Rescue. Together, these dedicated professionals will showcase their life-saving work and share important messages about staying safe around water.

Inspiring Future Generations

One of the key highlights of the event is the opportunity for visitors to meet real-life heroes. Attendees will hear firsthand accounts from these individuals who work tirelessly to save lives at sea. John Andrews, head of operations and guides at The Deep, emphasizes the importance of spreading water safety messages to a large audience, especially as the summer season approaches. "H2O Heroes wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing rescue organisations," he stated.

Engaging Activities and Learning

The event promises a wide array of engaging activities for families, including photo opportunities with rescue personnel, dressing up in survival gear, outdoor vehicle displays, hands-on demonstrations, and informative presentations. RNLI's Liam Fayle-Parr highlights how these activities provide a memorable and entertaining way to teach families lifesaving skills and knowledge.

Making a Difference in the Community

Each participant in the event recognizes its potential impact on community safety. Yusef Forster from Humber Rescue illustrated the importance of such events, noting that even one visitor leaving with newfound knowledge could make a significant difference. Similarly, Sarah Wilkinson from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service stressed the necessity of raising awareness to prevent accidents and save lives.

The H2O Heroes event is included in the standard admission price to The Deep, ensuring that families can join in without any additional costs. Pre-booking is recommended, particularly during the busy May half-term holidays, to ensure an educational and enjoyable experience for all.
