A new initiative is set to explore the profound legacy of Islamic astronomy and its influence on one of Bradford's own, mathematician Abraham Sharp. This exciting project, titled "Describing the Heavens: Astronomy from Islamic Scientists to Bradford’s Abraham Sharp," aims to delve into a lesser-known chapter of scientific heritage that shaped our understanding of the stars.

The project has received crucial support, as one of 27 small museums across the UK awarded funding through the Royal Society’s Places of Science scheme, which offers up to £3,500 to community-focused science initiatives. James Steward, head of service for Bradford District Museums and Galleries, expressed delight at the funding, emphasizing its importance in highlighting Bradford’s unique scientific history.
