Discover the Uplifting Stories Behind Shire Stories' Creative Program

In an inspiring move towards enhancing the representation of underrepresented voices, the theatre programme Shire Stories has marked six months of fostering creativity through its unique workshops. Launched in February 2026, this innovative project aims to unveil untold stories from Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Shropshire, encouraging participants to express themselves through scriptwriting.

Empowerment Through Creativity

Shire Stories has partnered with The Monday Night Club in Worcester, an organization dedicated to supporting adults with learning difficulties or autism. The collaboration has resulted in a series of 10-week workshops, which culminated in a showcase of original scenes performed by its participants. Julia Bentley, an intern facilitator with Shire Stories, expressed her joy at witnessing the progress of participants, highlighting the importance of creating an engaging and light-hearted environment. "We want our workshops to be fun as well as inspiring," Bentley remarked.

Upcoming Showcases: Tiny Plays, Big Ideas

As part of its broader programming, Shire Stories is set to present an exciting evening of theatrical talent with "Tiny Plays, Big Ideas" at Swan Studio on May 24. This event features short plays developed by emerging playwrights across the West Midlands, showcasing a variety of poignant themes and innovative storytelling. From comedy to drama, the collection includes works such as "Waiting Time" and "Searching for Sarah," promising to captivate audiences with their emotional depth and originality.
