Discover the Joy of Writing: Rhyl Ladies Creative Writing Group Inspires Connections
In an age where digital communication often overshadows personal interaction, the Rhyl Ladies Creative Writing Group stands out as a beacon of community and creativity. This vibrant group, based in a welcoming independent living community in Rhyl, is dedicated to inspiring women of all ages to embrace their writing for fun and connection.
A Place for Everyone
Meeting every Friday at 10 am at Gorwel Newydd, this ladies-only group welcomes participants of all experience levels. Organised by the enthusiastic Frances, the sessions emphasize that writing should be enjoyable rather than intimidating. Joan Withers, a long-time member at the age of 90, encapsulates this spirit by stating, "It doesn’t matter whether you are a good writer, the whole point is to come along, have fun and give your brain a workout."
Creative Engagement
Each week, members have the chance to read their work aloud if they choose, fostering a supportive environment where creativity flourishes. Frances provides an inspiring writing task each week, followed by lively discussions over tea and biscuits. Newcomer Pat noted, “There’s always something to smile about,” reflecting the warm atmosphere cultivated within the group.
Join the Fun
The Rhyl Ladies Creative Writing Group proves that creativity and community can emerge from simple beginnings. They encourage new members to come along, ensuring a nurturing space where everyone can explore their imaginative side without any pressure. As Joan aptly invites, “Come along and have a drink and see what we get up to.”
For those interested, the group convenes at Gorwel Newydd, 76-82 West Parade, Rhyl during the winter months, and relocates to Rhyl’s Women’s Centre from April to November. This initiative not only promises personal fulfillment through writing but also strengthens communal bonds amongst participants, making it a remarkable fixture in Rhyl.
