Discover the Joy of Nature with Bury's Unique Silent Disco Hike
This June, the Sunnywood Project is inviting outdoor enthusiasts to join an innovative experience that combines hiking with the thrill of a silent disco. Set in the stunning landscape of Holcombe Moor, these events promise to enhance your connection to nature while providing a fun and healthy activity.
Embracing the Outdoors
The Sunnywood Project, a not-for-profit organization in Bury, has been dedicated to enriching the lives of young people and the community through nature-based activities for six years. Their commitment to promoting outdoor experiences shines through with events like hiking expeditions and unique festivities such as the lively 'colour dash' in Burrs Country Park and an exciting zombie hike during the Halloween season.
A Fresh Take on Socializing
Organiser Marc Young describes the silent disco hikes as an exhilarating alternative for socializing without the typical drinking culture. Participants can enjoy the fresh air, engage in physical activity, and let loose with dance while witnessing breathtaking sunsets. "By the time you get back to the car park," Marc notes, "you've been on a couple of miles' hike, seen the sunset, had a dance and a sing, and... you wake up in the morning feeling absolutely fine."
Building Community Connections
Since their initiation, the silent disco hikes have cultivated a strong following, attracting attention on social media and building partnerships with locations like Tatton Park and Lyme Park. With headsets offering a choice of three music channels, participants have the freedom to listen to anything from 90s classics to contemporary hits, fostering a vibrant atmosphere throughout the hike.
Inspiring All Ages
Highlighting inclusivity, the Sunnywood Project has expanded their offerings to primary schools, bringing the joy of silent discos to younger audiences. Recently, they helped a Year 6 group celebrate their SATs with a special event, showcasing the program's commitment to fostering joy and activity across generations.
Join the Next Adventure
The upcoming silent disco hike at Holcombe Moor is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, starting at 6 PM. With tickets priced at £15.50, this event not only promises a unique experience but also emphasizes health and wellbeing through outdoor activity. For those seeking an uplifting way to connect with nature and others, the Sunnywood Project’s silent disco hike is an opportunity not to be missed.
