Discover the Hidden Gems of Tendring with an Inspiring New Story Walks Campaign
A new initiative launched by Essex storyteller James Lawrence in collaboration with Tendring District Council (TDC) is set to transform how residents and visitors engage with the unique heritage and landscapes of Tendring. The campaign, which will debut at the end of June, aims to shine a spotlight on the often-overlooked treasures of the Essex Sunshine Coast.
The Essence of Tendring
The campaign will feature a combination of captivating social media films and guided Story Walks starting in July. Each walk will accommodate a small group of 30 participants to ensure an intimate experience that merges local history, wildlife insight, and storytelling. James Lawrence emphasizes the need for people to reconnect with the land and its storied past, inviting them to uncover the layers of human experience that define the landscape.
Community Engagement and Connection
Councillor Ivan Henderson, TDC Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, believes that this initiative will not only celebrate the natural beauty of Tendring but also inspire a renewed interest in its rich heritage. He noted the importance of showcasing the distinct landscapes and hidden gems unique to the district, which he believes will captivate both locals and tourists alike.
A Vision for Arts and Culture
The project aligns with the core vision of TDC to promote arts, culture, and community engagement within the region. Councillor Gary Scott, TDC Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage, highlighted that supporting such initiatives is critical for raising aspirations within the community. By providing enriching and creative experiences right on residents' doorsteps, the campaign hopes to foster pride and appreciation for Tendring's history and culture.
Participants can look forward to walks at special locations including Stour Wood, Wrabness, the Naze at Walton-on-the-Naze, and Jaywick Sands throughout July. As excitement builds, locals and visitors are encouraged to follow the Essex Sunshine Coast channels for updates and previews of the Story Walk films, paving the way for an engaging exploration of Tendring's remarkable offerings.
