Discover Great Falls' Newest Romance-Only Bookstore: Bound to Be Good Books
Great Falls has welcomed a unique addition to its literary scene with the opening of Bound to Be Good Books, the city's first romance-only bookstore, located at 413 Central Ave., Suite A. The store, owned by Erin Helms, has emerged as a passionate response to the growing demand for romance literature in the community.
From Farmers Market to Bookstore
The concept for Bound to Be Good Books originated at local farmers markets, where Helms offered “blind date with a book” bundles. These wrapped books allowed readers to choose based on hints rather than covers, generating excitement among readers. The idea took root as the romance genre continually outperformed others in sales, prompting her to transition from selling at markets to opening a dedicated storefront.
Celebrating Romance in All Its Forms
Helms emphasizes that romance encompasses far more than the stereotypical narratives often associated with it. "It's definitely a whole genre in itself," she remarks, showcasing the store's diverse offerings, which include young adult romance, darker themes, indie authors, and local talent. This approach caters to a wide array of readers, allowing them to explore titles that might not be available elsewhere.
A Thriving Book Community
The launch of Bound to Be Good Books signifies a rising interest in independent bookstores, as community members crave local recommendations and personal connections in their reading experiences. Ciara Ashcraft, manager at nearby Cassiopeia Books, welcomed the new bookstore, stating, "It gets more people reading, it gets more books out in the community."
Grand Opening Celebration
Book lovers are invited to celebrate the grand opening on July 3 from 4 to 9 p.m., followed by continued festivities after the Fourth of July parade on July 4. After the opening weekend, the bookstore will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Helms also plans to maintain her presence at local markets, ensuring that readers can continue discovering their next great read through her blind-date book offerings.
Bound to Be Good Books stands as a testament to the resilience and creativity of the local community, proving that Great Falls is indeed a burgeoning hub for literature enthusiasts.
