In an uplifting event held recently, the Sunderland Young Achievers’ Awards showcased the remarkable talents and dedication of young people from across the city. The ceremony, organized by Together for Children, honored those who have made significant contributions to their communities, highlighting the spirit of resilience and creativity among Sunderland's youth.

The Sandhill View Deaf Resource group received the prestigious title of overall winners at this year's awards. Their commendable efforts in raising awareness of deaf culture and British Sign Language underscore the importance of inclusivity and support in education. Among the other accolades presented, Daisy May Knight earned the Youth Voice Award for her creation of the 'Siblings of Stars' bereavement support group following the tragic loss of her brother. Oliver Hughes, winner of the Music Award, used drumming as a way to cope during a family crisis, illustrating how the arts can serve as a therapeutic outlet.
