Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs: A Night of Inspiration in Bolton

The fourth annual Women in Business Awards held on March 28 at the BWFC Premier Suite in Bolton showcased the remarkable achievements of female entrepreneurs and business leaders. With a sold-out crowd of 350 guests, the event not only recognized outstanding women but also celebrated their impact across various sectors, including enterprise and community service.

A Night to Remember

Founded by Anita McKay, this year’s awards received over 2,000 nominations, making the selection of finalists and winners a significant achievement. McKay expressed her astonishment at the event’s success, highlighting the celebration of impactful businesses led by women. The event was hosted by Maura Jackson, who guided attendees through a memorable evening filled with live music by Tommy Price and engaging activities like sponsored karaoke by Mercedes-Benz of Bolton.

Honoring Excellence

Among the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Sital Arjan Raja MBE, recognized for her exceptional contributions to Bolton’s business community. The ceremony saw more than 30 awards handed out, with winners like Sarah Hulme of Covem, Carrie Flitcroft of Shiny and New Cleaning Services, and Ruth Wilkinson of Ruth Wilkinson Fitness, each representing the strength and diversity of female entrepreneurship in the area.

Charity and Community Impact

Beyond celebrating individual achievements, the event also aimed to give back to the community, raising over £1,000 for BACKUP North West through a charity raffle. This charitable effort underscores the commitment of these business leaders to not only excel in their respective fields but also uplift their community.

Looking Ahead

With future events on the horizon, including the Men in Business Awards in May and the Health and Wellbeing Awards later this year, the groundwork is being laid for continued celebration of business excellence in Bolton. Additionally, the new Proper Northern Wedding Awards is set to debut in 2026, further expanding the recognition of local talent and hard work.
