Celebrating Dedication: Local Heroes Recognized at Stagecoach East Midlands Awards

In a heartfelt ceremony recently held at the prestigious Belton Woods Hotel and Spa, Stagecoach East Midlands paid tribute to its dedicated workforce at the annual Long Service Awards. This event shone a spotlight on the unsung heroes who have spent decades ensuring that local buses remain a vital service in the community.

A Tribute to Longevity and Service

Stagecoach East Midlands recognized colleagues who have dedicated 20 to 40 years of service, with special acknowledgment for Gordon Johnson and Robert Scott, both of whom have reached an impressive milestone of 40 years. This gathering was not just a corporate event; it was an important celebration of commitment and perseverance that keeps the wheels of the community turning.

Honoring Outstanding Contributions

Among the evening's highlights were the “Stars of the Month” awards, which showcased individuals who have gone above and beyond in their duties over the past year. The spotlight was particularly bright on Derreck Smith, who was crowned Employee of the Year. Smith exhibited extraordinary professionalism and compassion by intervening during a crisis situation, demonstrating how the employees of Stagecoach are not just workers but also compassionate members of the community.

Supporting Noble Causes

The evening also featured a Charity Raffle to benefit Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, raising an impressive £3,789.52. This contribution underscores Stagecoach East Midlands' commitment to social responsibility and community enrichment. Corporate Partnerships Manager, Nil Patel, was present to receive the generous donations, marking a successful effort in supporting child welfare initiatives.

Commercial Director, Dave Skepper, emphasized the event's significance, stating, “The Long Service Awards are always a brilliant opportunity for the entire team to come together and recognize the talented and dedicated people who make Stagecoach East Midlands so special.” Such sentiments capture the essence of the event, which not only honors service achievements but also promotes a culture of care and community service.

As we reflect on the spirit of the awards, it is clear that the commitment displayed by these individuals contributes to the collective strength and resilience of the local community.
