Celebrating Cultural Diversity: A Heartwarming School Initiative

A remarkable event took place recently at Ladybridge High School, where the launch of 'This Is Us 2' showcased a collection of stories written by Year Seven pupils. This book celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the community, highlighting the creativity and personal narratives of its young authors.

A Testament to Community Spirit

The launch event drew an enthusiastic audience of parents, teachers, and staff, all eager to support the students. English teacher Megan King expressed her pride in overseeing the project, stating how inspiring it was to witness the pupils read excerpts from their own writings. "We are incredibly proud of the respect, care, and kindness they’ve shown towards these powerful stories," she remarked.

Supporting Those in Need

All proceeds from the book sales, priced at £6, will benefit the Bolton-based charity BRASS, which assists refugees and asylum seekers. This initiative not only emphasizes the importance of diversity but also highlights the school's commitment to giving back to the community.

Promoting Health and Longevity

In conjunction with the book launch, the school proudly showcased another initiative where Year Eight pupils explored the potential for Bolton to become a "Blue Zone"—an area where residents frequently live to over 100 years old. This creative inquiry, coupled with health assessments at the Bolton Arena, promotes a culture of wellness and healthy living among the students.

Through initiatives like these, Ladybridge High School continues to foster an environment of learning, compassion, and community engagement, ensuring that students not only celebrate their own diversity but also support and uplift others within their community.
