Celebrating Black History Month: Local Grants Uplift Community Spirit

In an inspiring display of community support, the Black Excellence Community Fund has awarded three grants to local non-profits in honor of Black History Month. This initiative, spearheaded by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, aims to elevate and celebrate the rich history of the local Black community.

Empowering Local Organizations

The dedicated grants have been awarded to three exceptional organizations that play a vital role in preserving and promoting Black culture and heritage. They include The Henry Hotel of Ocean City, a historical landmark, the Sturgis One Room School House of Pocomoke, which serves as a vital educational resource, and the Buffalo Soldier Living History Site in Allen, which commemorates the contributions of African American soldiers.

Each of these non-profits works tirelessly within their communities to foster education, remembrance, and celebration of Black heritage. By providing financial support, the Black Excellence Community Fund ensures that these organizations can continue their important work and further engage with community members.

A Call for Community Engagement

The movement encourages local residents to take part in this enriching dialogue surrounding Black history. Community members are invited to share their own stories and good news, creating a network of positivity and empowerment that can help combat negativity within societal narratives.

This initiative not only highlights the importance of historical recognition but also emphasizes the role that local organizations play in shaping a more inclusive and understanding community. The support from the fund reflects a growing recognition of the need to elevate Black voices and stories in today's discourse.
