The people of Castlederg have reason to celebrate with the recent unveiling of a state-of-the-art sporting complex at Mitchell Park, a project that marks a significant milestone for the local community. Funded by the UK Government, this £3 million redevelopment offers various facilities aimed at enhancing the sporting culture in the area.

A Landmark Development for Local Sports

The new complex features a modern 3G playing pitch, suitable for competitive soccer matches at all levels, alongside a junior-sized GAA pitch and additional mini soccer pitches designed for youth football and recreational play. These facilities will serve as a much-needed resource for local sports clubs and teams.

Councillor Ruairí McHugh, who officiated the ceremony, emphasized the project's significance in fostering community spirit and promoting health and wellbeing through sport. "This enhanced playing provision will make those benefits more accessible and will have a hugely positive impact for residents of the Derg Ward," he stated.
