Bend Police Department's Commitment to Safety Lauded with Prestigious Awards

A Standout Officer Recognized
Adding to this commendation, Officer Zachary Childers has been named the 2025 DUII Officer of the Year. Having served as a Bend officer since 2017, Childers brings over a decade of experience in law enforcement. His dedication is evidenced by his impressive track record, having made 151 DUI arrests in a year where the department collectively arrested more than 550 individuals for driving under the influence.

In 2025, they partnered with school resource officers to promote traffic safety among students, utilizing hands-on exercises to demonstrate the dangers of impaired driving. On New Year’s Eve, the department showcased their dedication by deploying 10 additional patrol officers in downtown Bend, coupled with an education booth that offered free alcohol breath tests to the public.
