A heartwarming story emerged from the recent chaos in Europe caused by Storm Goretti, as a young loggerhead turtle named Crush found herself in a life-saving journey that captured the hearts of many. After being swept hundreds of miles away from her natural habitat, Crush was discovered on the Island of Jersey, where she had been left in a vulnerable state due to extreme cold.

From Beachcomber to Animal Hospital

Upon her discovery, Crush was in a 'cold stunned' condition—a potentially fatal state for warm-water species. Luckily, she was quickly transported to the New Era Hospital, where veterinarian Peter Haworth took action to stabilize the malnourished turtle. Thanks to the generosity of The Jersey Oyster Company, warm seawater was provided to assist in her recovery.

Understanding the need for a more appropriate care environment, Peter coordinated an extraordinary solution: Crush was granted a First Class ticket on Loganair, ensuring her travel from Jersey to Southampton would be as stress-free as possible.
